COURSE 2 - 4. Quick reminder: cold/secure generation and storage
This is just a quick reminder of what we have been recommending throughout this course so far:
the generation of the seed must (!) be done in a secure and cold computer.
the storage of the seed can be physical and/or digital:
physical storage (e.g. paper or metal) should be geographically dispersed: e.g. by using multisig wallets and/or by splitting the seed and/or the BIP39 passphrase and storing the different parts in different geographical places so that they are not immediately available to you: if you can easily and immediately access your bitcoins, probably they are not secure enough.
digital storage:
must (!) be in a secure and cold support (e.g. a cold Tails USB stick that was mounted only on cold and secure machines).
and should be geographically dispersed (again by using multisig wallets and/or by splitting the seed and/or the BIP39 passphrase).
the techniques illustrated in Course 1 also significantly increase the possibilities of secure/cold storage and significantly improve security against different kinds of attacks.
The security of your Bitcoins depends in significant part by observing these best practices.
