Applications" > "Utilities" > "Disks" > select drive > click on the three vertical dots icon > "Format Disk..." > select preferred options, then "Format..." > "Format" > "+" to add partition > choose dimension of partition > "Next" > provide the name of the volume in the relative field > select if you want to overwrite data (more secure but much, much slower) > select "Internal disk for use with Linux systems only (Ext4)" > tick "Password protect volume (LUKS)" > "Next" > provide encryption password > "Create
