COURSE 1  - 3.3.2.1. PGP: Encryption of text (Kleopatra)

QUICK INFO:

  • Asymmetric encryption: key pair (Private, Public); the recipient sends his Public key to the sender

  • To encrypt text :"Kleopatra > Notepad" > type or paste text to be encrypted > "Recipients" > tick "Sign" (if you want to sign) and select private key you want to use for signature > tick "Encrypt for me" (if you want to be able to decrypt the encrypted text) and select your Public key > tick "Encrypt for others" (if you want others to be able to decrypt the encrypted text) and select (or import) their Public key > "Sign/Encrypt Notepad"

  • To decrypt text: "Kleopatra" > "Notepad" > paste text to be decrypted > "Decrypt/Verify Notepad" > insert password > "Open"
