QUICK INFO:

• To decrypt a VeraCrypt file container using Tails' "Unlock VeraCrypt Volumes" pre-installed application:

  • Utilities" > "Unlock VeraCrypt Volumes" > "Add" > select file container > "Open", then:

• If you want to open the Outer Volume, leave the field "Hidden Volume" unticked and provide the relative password in the password field > "Unlock" > "Open

• If you want to open the Hidden Volume, tick the field "Hidden Volume"  and provide the relative password in the password field > "Unlock" > "Open".

• Please note: if the file container is in a USB stick,  first close the file container, then close the application, and finally  eject the USB stick. If you don't close the application, Tails will  stop the ejection by saying that the volume is busy.

• To decrypt a VeraCrypt file container in Tails using ZuluCrypt (additional software):

• ZuluCrypt  > "Open" > "Volume Hosted in a File" > select file >  "Volume Type": select "VeraCrypt" > select "Password" > provide  password of Outer Volume or of Hidden Volume > "Open"

• When finished, to unmount: right click on file inside ZuluCrypt window > "Unmount"
